Bear’s Den Trading Post is a family owned and operated business founded in the early 1950’s by the Matriach of our family, Theresa Lazore Gutherie, affectionately known to many as Theresa Bear. Located on the St. Regis Mohawk Indian Reservation, Theresa started her business with two gas pumps and a small souvenir shop to support her three children. During the St. Lawrence Seaway Development Project, she ran a boarding house and snack bar selling burgers and pizza.

She instilled in her family an ethic of hard work and determination to achieve success. Her strong will and entrepreneurial spirit was inherited from her parents, Eli and Violet Lazore, and has now passed on to four generations.
